I have started this sentence about twelve times now, I’m just not sure where to start. Obviously there is break-neck novelling going on in our household, and there is also a good amount of crocheting that has started to pile up, and I decided that I should change up my blog a smidgen. Since this is the not writing blog, I guess I will spare the details of my NaNoWriMo project.
The blog change was prompted by the fact that I have been longing for a three column layout. I don’t know with what I will fill said columns, but I changed it up in anticipation of great things to come. I have a few ideas, and they will come about in the next few days.
On top of the 9 pointed star afghan, and Kristeena’s scarf, I have started an afghan made from “Warm Jewel Granny Squares” which are rumored to be 10″ squares, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they are closer to 11 or 12. This project should go quickly provided I can convince myself to sit down every day and make 2 or 3 squares. The suggested amount of squares to make is 35, but I’m thinking 40 should be a good number, 8×5 squares will be long enough to cover 2 people when the old house drafts start to act up.
Once I am done one of the afghans, I’m going to try my hand at creating my own afghan square, which I haven’t done in a long time. I have an idea for something that is a little bit quilt inspired, possibly involving diamond shapes and diagonal assembly. The quilt crochet patterns I’ve found called for making more than 200 tiny squares which is insanely tedious, and not really something I am willing to commit my time to undertaking.
As always, I will take pictures and post them as I finish, or get to a point where the project is presentable at the very least.

I like the new look. Your banner really stands out with this one.
I keep envisioning an afghan with the the warm jewel granny thingy in cobalt blue in place of the white and then bright, alternating rainbow colours, one for each square, for the details. That would be fun. Make me one, k?
I’ll get right on it
